The events of February 22-25, 1986, remain one of the most remarkable demonstrations of nonviolent resistance in history. Filipinos of different age, profession, ethnicity, and gender came together to unite in restoring democracy and putting an end to decades of dictatorship despite the looming threats of military intervention. These Filipinos stood their ground, their prayers and songs echoing across Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), proving that a peaceful revolution was possible.

But we must remember, democracy is not a one-time victory; it is a continuous effort that demands participation, vigilance, and courage. As Filipinos of today’s generation, we bear the responsibility of upholding democracy in everything we do, for it does not rest solely on our leaders but loes within each of us. May we never forget the collective power we hold the power to shape a future of justice, equality, and lasting change. The spirit of EDSA lives on in every Filipino who fights for what is right, stands against oppression, and upholds the principles of democracy.
